| Customer Reviews: Great asset to one's arsenal! August 30, 2010 James Prine (Ponchatoula, La. (Katrina)) I have an older (2006) JVC GZ-MG21U hard disk camcorder. A nice little camera with lousy video output and horrendous low light performance. I loved the convenience of the hard disk and the outstanding (for me) audio, but I was so disappointed with the videos I made...low resolution grainy things...I was seriously considering selling my camcorder and upgrading to a de-def one. Then I saw this fisheye lens on amazon, thought "Why not?", and ordered one. It took just less than a week to arrive.
Wow! This little lens is GREAT! Attaching it was easy...first, attach the Adapter Ring (mine was a Bower 'digital adapter ring' 30.5mm to 37mm), and then attach the lens itself.
Good grief, what a difference this thing makes! You can adjust your zoom to get the effect you want, and it makes a tremendous difference in video output...aiming the camcorder isn't an issue any longer, and one can capture dramatic vistas that are simply not possible with the stock lens system. Even the resolution problems have been minimized.
Recording a simple walk to one's mailbox is now an epic journey LOL.
I intend to use this beast on my motorcycle and when flying. Now, I LOVE my little camcorder and although I still intend to get a new hi-def machine, this little JVC isn't going anywhere!
You can unscrew the lens itself into two pieces, leaving the thin MACRO section on the adapter ring on the camcorder gives one a very efficient macro lens; using it alone also gives one a true fisheye effect for wide angles. Adding the rest of the lens lessens the fisheye effect and with a quick touch of the zoom ring, the black circular border vanishes. Experiment to see what you like best.
Highly recommended to anyone looking for a cheap and fun way to improve one's camcorder adventures!

this is a great fisheye for only 30 dollars i am 12 and use it for skateboarding. make sure you scerw it on right the first time or it screws up your camera threads. i recommend it. works great with the samsung mx20 (very cheap)

It's definitely not a death lens, but it's a great fisheye for the money. Mine has already been smacked once and there were absolutely no scratches. Cleaning is easy and all of the shots with it are super steezy
Great piece for skateboarding January 30, 2009 Matt (Northen NJ) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
